The site in Sexau, where maxon ceramic today is incorporated, was founded in 1989 to develop and produce gearheads for maxon motor drive units.
The high material requirements on shafts in gearheads and micromotors soon led to the evaluation of high-performance ceramic materials superior to steel in terms of wear resistance and antifriction properties.
Committed experts built up an in-house engineering department, equipped with state-of-the-art techniques such as CAD and FEM (Finite Element Method).
During maxon ceramic®'s development, the Executive Board arranged for the growth's required conditions and investments with an entrepreneurial pioneering spirit. Their approach contributed significantly to today's success of maxon ceramic®.
In the first few years of maxon ceramic, the division solely produced ceramic and metal components for maxon gearheads and maxon motors. Today, our competent and highly skilled personnel share their sound know-how with an increasing number of customers for a wide range of applications.
